Happy (& Healthy) Holidays from Naturally Joyous!

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little "extra" so make 2018 your best year yet!

It is easy to get overwhelmed during the Holiday season with all the baked goods, tasty drinks and sugary treats everywhere you go! However, it is also possible to have an amazing experience without feeling guilty, getting a stomach ache or depriving yourself for the entire week.

A couple of years ago I started a sugar detox (not recommending you do so!) during the Holidays just to show myself it was possible. And it was! I remember it being one of my favorite experiences because I had to get prepared and make all my healthy treats ahead. The key message here is that anything is possible!

In order to help you navigate the season, I put together a little Holiday Guide to help you stay healthy and happy during this special time.

I hope you enjoy these tips and that you find joy and light in everything around you, no matter how big or how small. And the next morning, when you wake up feeling like a treat, try these Holiday pancakes to start the day well!

The Morning After Holiday Pancake

Mix 1/2 cup teff flour (other healthy options include millet flour, quinoa flour, coconut flour) with 1/2 cup protein powder and add 2-3 tbsp raw cacao powder (or cocoa powder) and 1 tsp baking powder.

Then, mix with 1 cup water and 1 egg (for a vegan option, soak 2 tbsp of freshly ground flaxseed in water for 5-10 minutes before adding, instead of the egg).

If using a flat grill, drizzle some coconut oil (I use fractionated for cooking), let it cook for a couple of minutes on each side and enjoy!! Drizzle some maple syrup for sweeteness!
